More serviced offices for Luton's new economy
14th June 2007 by Martin Howes

There is an increasing demand for serviced offices in Luton. Fortunately the supply is also increasing.
Local company Chamberlain Holdings has been supplying this market for many years. They have several serviced office buildings in Luton. I guess the best known of these is Britannia Estates. (See www.let-direct.co.uk )
The international serviced office company Regus have been on the Capability Green business park for a number of years now. ( www.regus.co.uk )
Another well-established serviced office building is Maxet House in Liverpool Road. One of the smaller serviced office centres in Luton is Courtney House in Dudley Street ( www.courtneyhouse.co.uk ).
MLS arrived in Luton near the start of 2007. Their serviced office building is in Wellington Street in the town centre. ( www.mlsbusinesscentres.com )
Another new arrival in Luton is Saturn Facilities who are located in Park Street. ( www.saturnfacilities.com )
The biggest news for Luton's serviced office market is the Basepoint Business and Innovation Centre on the Butterfield development near the north-east edge of the borough. This is an impressive purpose-designed new building that has been funded by the East of England Development Agency. Basepoint plc are running the centre under contract to Luton Borough Council. The centre will be opening soon. ( www.basepoint.co.uk )
The Hot Office provide serviced offices a few miles outside Luton in Redbourne and Harpenden. Their main emphasis is on renting individual desks within a larger room, instead of the normal private offices. This has the advantage of encouraging interaction between businesses and making a lone business-person feel less isolated. However, it wouldn't be suitable for me as I need a lot of peace and quiet so I can concentrate! ( www.thehotoffice.com )
I understand that the Luton & Dunstable Innovation Centre at The Spires in Adelaide Street is due to close. ( www.innovationcentre.co.uk )
Other services offices in the Luton area include the Bramingham Park Business Centre. Where else have I forgotten? Let me know - email martin AT springwater.co.uk
