Busway is important for our growing conurbation
15th June 2007 by Martin Howes

As the economy of Luton and Dunstable continue to grow and the conurbation's population also grows, then more public transport is needed. The busway scheme formally known as Translink Express is an important part of the answer.
Richard Lacy, the chief of The Chamber (Bedfordshire and Luton's Chamber of Commerce) said: "It is clear that considerable planning projections have been based on the presence of Translink and that there would be adverse consequences on the scale and pace of Luton's employment and commercial development if the scheme did not proceed." I agree.
The busway scheme will improve the speed and reliability of bus journies between Luton and Dunstable.
Investment in public transport is not going to solve all of our conurbation's congestion problems. Flexible working hours and more home working will also help.
